Outreach Specialist



Job Description


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and conduct HIV Testing with community partners
  • Ability to lead all outreach events and coordinate with HIV Specialists (testing and tabling)
  • Plan and implement outreach activities, with a focus on digital and social media outreach strategies (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter, etc).
  • *Pending lifting of COVID-19 restrictions-Plan and implement street and community based face-to-face outreach at health fairs, community celebrations, colleges, universities, community centers, etc on HIV awareness days, Gay Pride celebrations, Transgender Day of Remembrance, as well as other social and cultural events honoring and celebrating LGBTQ communities of color. (plan at least 30 days ahead)
  • Develop and sustain strategic partnerships and collaborations with community stakeholders through Memos of Understanding (MOU’s)
  • Identify and establish new partnerships and collaborations with community stakeholders.
  • Attend and occasionally present at network meetings, (NY Knows, BK Knows, Queens Knows, Jamaica Community Partnership, Community Board 12)
  • Assure completion of data entry in (SPARS, CareWare, EMR)
  • Assist Director, Programs and Training on special projects.
  • Identify best practices for venue based as well as social media outreach.
  • Work closely with team of HIV Testers and Case Manager to refer and links clients/patients to Project RITE services.
  • Must have ability to prioritize and carry out multiple and diverse assignments
  • Ensure Linkage Agreements and up to date with community partners
  • Ability to work well across teams


Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of (WORD, Excel, power point, Microsoft Outlook)
  • Tech savvy
  • Knowledge of and comfort with social media applications
  • Market programs and services to engage priority populations through the development and distribution of innovative content.

Requirement

  • NYS Drivers’ License (by start date or within 6 months of employment)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Experience:

  • Three years plus experience working with LGBTQ communities of color
  • Experience working in HIV Prevention.
  • Must demonstrate broad understanding of HIV epidemic (history, priority populations, transmission, prevention, treatment, sociopolitical issues, and quality improvement).

Education:

Degree in marketing, nonprofit management, public health, and or five plus years’ experience leading marketing, venue based and or social media outreach strategies.
