JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
This position is based in our Kennewick, WA facility. The basic function of this position will include but is not limited to machine repair and maintenance with an emphasis on quality assurance and overall work standards on the repair floor. This position will also be responsible for disassembly, inspection, reassembly, and testing of pumps and blowers at a bench in a shop environment.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Disassemble, clean, and inspect rotating equipment
- Follow all quality assurance and documentation procedures
- Estimate labor and parts necessary to make repairs
- Complete required repairs and assemble new equipment
- Assemble and test repaired rotating equipment
- Report to shop foreman on Job Status and any quality assurance issues
- Travel to customer job sites when required
- Ability to teach and direct junior mechanics in rotating equipment repair
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Understanding of pumps, compressors, blowers, electric motors, and other rotating equipment
- Understanding of hydraulics and how they operate. Able to read and interpret hydraulic schematics or diagrams
- Understanding of machine work and part manufacturing as it pertains to pump repair and restoring pump factory clearances
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics or diagrams
- Use of precision measuring instruments
- Understanding basic mathematics
- Organized and highly detail-oriented
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Three to five years of experience in production/job shop environment with one to two years direct experience in working as a mechanic or millwright on pumps
- Preferred: Associates degree, Technical school, or previous experience with rotating equipment
- High enthusiasm, energy, and initiative
- Quality conscious and interested in improvement techniques and teamwork
- High level of professionalism with excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner
- This job requires driving company trucks so a clean driving record is a must
- This job requires a pre-employment background check, driving check, and drug test
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for two thirds or more of time. He/she may also be required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time while completing other duties and responsibilities
- The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of his/her hands and fingers to handle, feel and operate objects such as machines and computer equipment. The ability to bend the body, to reach for objects, and to crouch when needed is also required
- The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to chest height
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position will be primarily working indoors on the shop floor in varied temperatures
- Work done at customer sites can vary from indoor to outdoor in varied temperature conditions
- Noise level will vary from moderate conditions to extreme and ear plugs should be worn
- Odors and air quality may vary and may be unpleasant to some individuals
- Safety glasses and shoes are required in all areas on the shop floor
- Overtime may be required based upon workloads and personnel requirements
