Test Architect
Job Description
This role will be seen as the technical expert on the engineering team. As Test Architect you will be the technical expert for all hardware (HW) and software (SW) test tools utilized to test our deep ultraviolet (DUV) light sources and modules. This role owns the portfolio for all test tools at associated with the position (across multiple internal and external organizations)
The Test Architect will:
- Test software development using Software: Labview, Labview-Realtime; Test Stand.
- Have experience selecting and integrating test hardware; including Computers; Data Acquisition Systems (a must)
- Need technical leadership experience and portfolio planning experience (No direct reports or project leadership but more Technical Leader)
- Will be the go-to person for technical questions and technical planning
- Will participate in the full development cycle of HW and SW test tools: requirements, design, development, test and release.
- Will also evaluate sustaining and new test tools and proposes an architecture that provides commonality and reuse of both HW and SW components.
Role and responsibilities include:
- Evaluates our list our sustaining test tools and identifies opportunities for improvements.
- Evaluates requests for new test tools and proposes a common design architecture, both for HW and SW components.
- Research new HW technologies and proposes enhancements to the test tool HW / SW portfolio based on those new technologies. This includes test racks, computers, interface boxes, cabling systems, data acquisition modules, LabVIEW applications, MatLab scripts and Test Stand sequences.
- Performs ROI analysis for all the HW and SW enhancements proposals.
- Provides test tool technical leadership and participates in technical discussions with cross functional teams.
- Develops test tool SW applications needed for proof of concept, feasibility validation and prototype evaluation.
- Develops test tool SW applications for Manufacturing, Engineering and Supplier testing.
- Investigates test tool quality issues and proposes long-term solutions for both HW and SW test tools.
- Evaluates the electrical, software, optical and electromagnetic components of the laser system and its modules in order to create test tools that cover all the necessary test cases.
- Participates in laser systems and laser modules design review meetings and proposes features to improve testability.
- Create technical presentations (design architecture, test tool portfolio updates, etc.) and present those in cross functional review meetings.
- Creates engineering designs documents, including schematics, block diagrams, interconnection diagrams, software sequence diagrams, flow diagrams and other engineering design artifacts. Reviews documentation created by other team members.
- Selects off-the-shelf hardware / software components required for new and sustaining test tools.
- Gathers information from drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics necessary to develop test equipment and documentation.
- Evaluates new test tools request and develops first pass effort estimates.
- Works in cross-functional groups to assist in the creation of test tool requirements documentation.
- Oversees technical development of HW/SW done by peer engineers. Mentors and trains junior engineers

Education and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline. Master’s degree is a plus.
- A minimum of fifteen (15) years industry experience developing test equipment and test software.
- Solid programming experience developing LabVIEW, LabVIEW RT/FPGA applications and Test Stand scripts.
- Programming experience with MatLab and Python desired but not required.
- Experience selecting and integrating NI hardware: Analog DAQ, Digital I/O, RS232, RS422, CAN bus, Ethernet, sbRIO, Embedded SOMs and Embedded RTOS / FPGA.
- Experience with Schematic Capture, Simulation and Design Tools (OrCAD, PSpice, PADS, MS Visio).
- Hands on firmware (VHDL code) design experience desired but not required.
- Experience selecting and integrating industry-rated rack computers.
- Experience designing interface boxes that provide signal routing and signal conditioning.
