Primary Responsibilities:
- Define and lead a strategic client management organization that will execute multi-year strategies to support new business pipeline, enhance close ratios for new and existing business, and deliver unique value for the targeted employers, that will result in the placement of Optum products and services and increase segment revenue
- Create a strategic client management organization that leverages all assets and relationships within the organization to thoroughly understand each prospect’s culture, organizational needs and decision makers and translates that knowledge into account plans and proactively target and pursue cross sell and up sell opportunities
- Innovate and drive new business models and financial arrangements to differentiate a UHG Enterprise pharmacy model vs competition
- Lead the assessment and incorporation of OptumRx products / solutions into the Optum models to drive margin expansion and increased value to our client base
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with senior business leaders across client management, underwriting & pricing, product, operations, clinical, reporting & analytics
- Partner effectively with multiple internal business stakeholders to design leading edge solutions that meet market need and leverage both existing product and upcoming innovations
- Effectively selects and aligns talent with the capabilities needed to achieve long term goals
- Recruit, hire and monitor performance of client management organization, ensuring appropriate initial and ongoing training and development and solid employee engagement
- Coach, develop, and support the client management leaders to ensure business objectives around NPS, Employee Experience, Client Retention and Financial Targets are achieved annually
- Develop and participate in presentations to client executives to educate and validate the value of relationship with OptumRx.
- Develop trusted executive-level relationships with clients that represent strategically important relationships for UnitedHealth Group, to understand clients’ needs and value created by Optum solutions
- Establish productive internal partnerships that span UnitedHealth Group’s various functions and businesses.
- Maintain a broad understanding of Optum’s portfolio of solutions
- Anticipate industry trends and assess competitor positioning to proactively position the company for long term success that translates to revenue growth and the development of strategic relationships for UnitedHealth Group
- Keep the organization informed of market needs, product requirements, competitive information, account specific initiatives and other knowledge essential for our business efforts. Push the organization to act to deliver capabilities that enable growth
- Recognize service issues, raise internal awareness, and facilitate response in partnership with internal stakeholders
- Install a process to ensure the client management organization is educated with the most relevant & current industry knowledge to position themselves as thought leaders with prospective and existing clients
- Coach account team to build effective internal/external relationships that enable them to respond quickly to emerging customer opportunities, and provide for seamless execution of the company's business processes that exceed customer expectations
- Support real-time strategy refinement utilizing lessons learned and best practices to drive continuous improvement across all businesses
- Represent the company both externally and internally as an industry expert and thought leader with existing and prospective customers, brokers, and consultants
- Effectively represent Our United Culture and demonstrates UHG’s values internally and externally

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years of experience as a progressive leader in complex health care organization managing large professional teams and extensive command of clinical, financial and strategy development
- Direct experience in pharmacy benefits, pharmacy operations, and/or medical benefits management
- Proven track record for consistently achieving/exceeding financial – P&L objectives
- Proven ability to establish effective & collaborative working partnerships with executives and key business partners in a highly matrixed environment to advance innovation and strategies
- Proven ability to motivate, lead and develop leaders and overall team talent
- Demonstrated understanding of the healthcare landscape, competition and having an enterprise-wide perspective
- Willingness to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or Advanced degree
- Demonstrated visionary thinking and ability to translate to business strategies that create or sustain competitive advantage
- Familiarity with all aspects of healthcare strategy and operations
- Proven ability to analyze complex market opportunities and develop creative solutions to a wide variety of unique market problems
- Demonstrated track record of active collaboration, engagement, oversight and strategy development of key growth opportunities
- Excellent presentation skills with the expertise and sophistication needed to credibly represent OptumRx in the context of the company's values and quality commitments
- Superior oral and written communication skills and ability to build credibility to gain the respect and confidence of clients and internal partners
- Self-starter and able to navigate a complex, matrixed organization
- Solid communication, influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The Salary range for Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada residents is $174,600 to $332,200. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
