Maintenance Tech III-Stamping (On-site)



Job Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repair of all Stamping Department tools and equipment. Provides technical and operational support to the production area.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs and adjusts all production area equipment and tooling, as required.

2. Ensures all safety devices are in place, functional, and in compliance with Company safety policies and

procedures.

3. Works closely and cooperatively with Production Lead, Production Supervisor, Operators, Manufacturing Engineer, Tooling Engineer, and other Maintenance Technicians to assure optimum performance of equipment, tooling and personnel to achieve production goals.

4. Provides technical support to production personnel to ensure product quality, and the safe and proper use of equipment.

5. Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts and consumable parts usage and miscellaneous item usage in CMMS.

6. Ensures accuracy of spare parts inventory

7. Operates hand tools and hand-held power tools. Operates general tool room equipment

8. Recommends, builds, implements and monitors, tooling, equipment and/or process improvements to the area.

9. Monitors and analyses stamping die wear and spare parts usage.

10. Recommends new Predicative Maintenance Schedules

11. Recommends new designs for spare parts.

12. Coordinates the scheduling of maintenance and tooling with the Tooling Manager.

13. Insures that spare parts and component parts have been properly inspected to meet required drawing specifications.

14. Responsible for the proper use and care of all tools and precision measuring equipment issued to the maintenance area.

15. Complies with company and area safety policies and practices.

16. Responsible for training of lower level technicians.

17. Completes on the job and specialized training as required.

18. Supports and fosters active participation in, and complies with, corporate values as outlined in the Corporate Values and Expectations Handbook and complies with the Management Systems Manual.

19. Awareness of job related environmental impacts.

JOB SCOPE

This position performs in widely diverse work situations involving a high degree of complexity. This position contributes to the development of new concepts. This position operates independently with little supervision, but under the direction of the Tooling Manager. The impact of errors could result in a loss of production capacity if a stamping die is damaged or a backlog of production if a mold or piece of equipment is out of service.

SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS

Contacts are normally made with others inside the Company and are usually made with own department staff..

Contacts are seldom about confidential or sensitive matters and are usually made on the employee’s own initiative.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to lift 40 pounds.

2. Must be able to stand or sit for majority of shift.

3. Must be able to work with a wide variety of cleaners, solvents, lubricants and oils.

4. Must have mobility with a wide range of motion, and occasionally work in confined areas.

5. Must have vision correctable to 20/20.

6. Must be able to understand and convey written and verbal instructions in English.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE

1. Three years’ experience with the maintenance and repair of progressive dies and high speed stamping presses

2. Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

3. Demonstrated proficiency with tool room equipment.

4. Proficient with high school math through algebra and trigonometry.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

6. Demonstrated proficiency with precision measuring equipment such as gages, calipers, profile projectors.

7. Demonstrated ability to read prints, drawings, sketches, and written instructions.

8. Ability to use a personal computer in a Microsoft Windows environment.

9. Proficient user of Maintenance Connection (CMMS)

10. Must be able to understand and convey verbal and written instructions in English.

JOB CONDITIONS

This position works in the maintenance area and on the production floor. This position is performed on all shifts during all hours, as the department functions around the clock


POSITION I:
Training (3-6mo) shift: Mon to Thur 12PM to 10:30PM
Position Shift post training: Thurs-Sun 2:00PM - 12:30AM

POSITION ii:
Training (3-6mo) shift: Mon to Thur 12PM to 10:30PM
Position Shift post training: Thurs to Sunday 4AM to 2:30PM

Both positions receive partial shift differential of 9% after training
40 hours per week
