Having completed EHR standardization across the enterprise, we are uniquely positioned to drive modernization, optimization and innovation across clinical and revenue cycle workflows and scenarios. The SVP of Clinical and Revenue Cycle Applications is responsible for strategic leadership overseeing the large-scale operation, optimization, integration, maintenance and innovation across systems and a large number of applications at Providence. This includes collaboration with a broad set of clinical, business, and operational stakeholders to identify system wide priorities and align on key outcomes and goals. The leader in this role is also responsible for building and maintaining key strategic relationships with vendors and partners.
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The position reports to the EVP, Chief Information Officer and must establish and maintain effective working relationships with leaders and staff at all levels in Providence, affiliates, as well as with vendors and other external partners. Key working relationships include but are not limited to leaders in the areas of clinical informatics, revenue cycle, and hospital and clinic operations, population health, medical staff and Providence executives including the rest of the Information Services executive team and others.
The SVP Clinical And Revenue Cycle Applications will have the following responsibilities:
Strategic:
In partnership with clinical and executive leaders, develop a prioritized multi-year roadmap to optimize, modernize and innovate the technology platform that supports clinical operations and revenue cycle management across the Providence enterprise and communities.
Develops enterprise applications and operational strategies in conjunction with other Information Services (IS) leadership, clinical and business executives.
Responsible for establishing and overseeing annual capital and operational investment prioritization, budgets and fiscal performance
Align existing cross organizational teams and initiatives under an innovative, common vision; strategy; and approach for the Providence enterprise.
Anticipate changing demands from the Providence organization and business environment and creatively realign clinical and revenue cycle objectives as needed to align with organizational strategic objectives.
Is responsible for working with leaders of IS and organizational leaders in setting technology standards, ensuring adherence to standards, and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of clinical application systems.
Implements appropriate service delivery models for core clinical and revenue cycle application functions where the IS organization is a trusted adviser in defining, delivering, and improving services for the Providence enterprise and its customers.
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with external relevant partners to advance Providence capabilities and leadership position in healthcare and technology industries to leverage best practices, evaluate emerging application technologies, and distribute knowledge internally to inform plans and strategies.
Remain abreast of technology trends and advancements, competitive and market-based uses of technology in healthcare and elsewhere to assess strategic opportunities for Providence. This includes emerging trends in care delivery, clinical and rev cycle operations
Participate in Providence strategic planning and development of IS objectives in conjunction with other senior leaders.
Ensures that the Clinical and Revenue Cycle applications focus, and priorities align and build upon the broad IS technology standards and capabilities
Leadership:
Attract, retain, and develop world class healthcare technology, engineering, business analyst and program/project management talent
Promote and foster an organizational culture that is innovative, agile, flexible, and aligned to the mission and values of the organization
Overall responsibility for management of the implementation and ongoing maintenance of clinical and revenue cycle applications, resolving issues in a timely fashion and ensuring that the technology meets clinical and business requirements.
Ensures the development and implementation of standards and policies for evaluation, implementation, development, and management across Providence.
Monitors the performance, security, and manageability across the applications ecosystem and evaluates the performance of technology services based on specific KPIs.
Oversees prioritization, budgeting, and expenditures for applications, staff, and services within their span of control.
Leads the development of and monitors compliance with policies and procedures for clinical and revenue cycle applications that impact all Providence.
Develops and provides direction for negotiations for preferred information technology vendor contracts and manages key vendor relationships.
Designs, implements, maintains, and operates departmental Service Level Agreements, Operating Level Agreements, and associated KPIs.
Maintains the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable clinical and revenue cycle applications and process that support the growth and financial objectives of Providence.
Teams with the business and other IS disciplines to develop and maintain appropriate disaster recovery architecture, projects, and policies and participates in disaster drills for clinical and revenue cycle applications.
Required experience/education for this position include:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
a minimum of 10 years of Information Services leadership experience in a healthcare setting, and 15 years total relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience
Demonstrated ability to create and successfully execute strategic plans for highly complex issues; healthcare information services operations and support; experience standardizing complex and disparate processes; methodologies related to application management such as system deployment, support, and life cycle; experience in process improvement methodology, change management, operational improvement in complex systems. Must have proven ability to interact at and communicate to all levels of an organization. Organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities are critical for success in this position
Demonstrated ability to develop a compelling strategic vision that aligns to the organization mission and strategic goals and is embraced and supported by Executives and Clinical leaders
Demonstrated experience of successful large-scale critical applications management across large geographic areas with virtual teams and partnerships with business owners and a broad range of stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives with an emphasis on employing software solutions that provide business value
Broad expertise and thorough understanding of current developments and trends in healthcare computing
Proactive identification of ways to enhance or improve application service delivery
Effective and compelling communicator, able to distill complex information to internal and external audiences at all levels.
Preferred experience/education for this position include:
Masters degree in Information Services, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, or a related IS or healthcare field.
Solid understanding and expereince iwht EPIC EMR systems
