Summary

The Environmental Services Compliance Supervisor and Sustainability Reporting is responsible to perform management support, analysis and reporting necessary to assure compliance with Ryder environmental policies enterprise-wide and in support of the development of the Corporate Sustainability Report. This role will possess deep understanding of the customer, operational, and regulatory needs that govern company operations and thus be positioned to develop and put in place the right environmental controls to reduce risk, costs, and improve environmental compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Supporting Ryder field operations (fleet maintenance and fueling facilities, warehouse and crossdocking operations, transportation operations) with environmental compliance;

  • Managing, accounting, and modeling greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for direct and indirect emission sources in company and customer operations;

  • Leading compliance with emissions reporting and permitting requirements, including annual CDP response and for CSR Development.

  • Ensuring internal controls exist to complete sustainability disclosures accurately and in accordance with global standards and US regulations;

  • Monitoring new federal, state, and local regulations related to emission controls, fuel standards, greenhouse gas reporting, and other environmental sustainability requirements, including newly developed GHG inventory and accounting standards/processes;

  • Provide training for Ryder business leaders, sales, marketing, and operations teams on emissions management, GHG accounting and other related initiatives; and,

  • Identify opportunities for emission reduction initiatives and develop businesses cases for their implementation.

  • Provides day-to-day compliance support to maintenance & fueling facilities, including performing routine facility audits.

  • Management, accounting, modeling, and reporting of utility usage data and greenhouse gas emissions for direct and indirect emission sources in company and customer operations;

  • Advance Ryder's environmental sustainability strategy, including emission reduction projects and SmartWay transportation commitments internally and with Ryder customers.

  • Manage waste vendor program to reduce operational costs associated with environmental compliance.

  • Stays current with local, state and federal environmental regulations impacting Ryder to develop and put in place the right environmental controls (policies, processes, forms) to reduce risk and improve environmental compliance.

  • Perform environmental due diligence for Ryder company and property acquisitions.

This role will report to the Director of Environmental Services and will interact with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required Environmental Science or related field

  • Master's degree preferred Environmental Science or related field

  • Five (5) years or more Work experience in an Environmental Management position

  • Five (5) years or more Previous training and auditing experience

  • Five (5) years or more Experience with ESG disclosures, emissions modeling, utility (energy, water) management, and writing environmental policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of Familiar with Environmental industry or maintenance operations

  • Familiarity with climate change regulations and carbon foot printing

  • Technical knowledge related to Transportation Operations

  • Knowledge of US and International Environmental regulations and laws

  • Proficient with computers including MS Office
