Job Description

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Shop Mechanic will include but are not limited to the following duties:

  • Repair, troubleshoot, maintain, and be responsible for run time, mechanical, and electrical systems of natural gas and diesel generators ranging from 40KW to 350KW.
  • Preventative maintenance on industrial natural gas and diesel generators (5.7L to 21.9L in engine size). Basic maintenance items include:
    • Monthly oil change, spark plug change, oil and air filters, overhead valve adjustments, checking batteries, washing of radiators
    • Load bank testing
  • Repair and maintenance of the following engine and electrical system components:
  1. Engine fuel systems
  2. Cooling systems
  3. Air injection systems (turbos, manifolds, etc.)
    • Generator control panel troubleshooting
    • Generator ends: diagnose 480V electrical output, check diodes, replace/tune automatic voltage regulators
  • Work directly with leadership to improve company-wide processes in regard to training, safety, and maintenance standards
  • Conduct work in accordance with company, customer, and industry safety standards to maintain an accident-free workplace
  • Stay reasonably informed of industry-wide safety practices, mechanic’s education, and develop or maintain any skill needed to properly perform the requirements of your services

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of natural gas generator or equivalent experience (diesel, commercial/industrial, heavy equipment, etc.)
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Trade school or relevant experience
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screen
  • General knowledge of safety expectations in a shop environment
  • Mechanical background
  • Basic computer skills
  • Positive, team oriented, flexible, and a self-starter attitude
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Trouble shooting and problem solving is a must.

  • Hourly rate based on experience, 1.5 x overtime rate
