Quality Control Certification Specialist

Steel Industries Inc. located in Redford, MI is currently looking for a full time Quality Control Certification Specialist. This position contributes to the companys success by having a thorough understanding of all certifications and paperwork in the Quality Certification department. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Researching open orders and determine if a preliminary certification is required.
• Prepare preliminary certifications and review for compliance.
• Prepare purchase order for testing lab, track all p.o.s and log all failed lab reports.
• Evaluate incoming lab results against specifications.
• Create a certification for various industries (i.e. commercial, aerospace and nuclear).
• Approve and review certification prior to issuance.
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Ability to learn other computer programs created specifically for Steel Industries (MTR/QAD)
• Knowledge of ASTM, AMS, AMSE & SAE specification.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and interpersonal skills
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines

Education and/or Experience

• Previous clerical experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience

Requirements

• Standing, bending, sitting, lifting up to 25#, squatting and walking for 8 to 10 hours per day.
