The team
Our Sales & Business Development teams collaborate with customers and partners across the globe to help them leverage the DocuSign Agreement Cloud to transform the entire system of agreement process-from preparing to signing, acting on, and managing contracts and other types of agreements. Our team partners with some of the largest, most innovative companies in the world in dozens of industries to bring the power of DocuSign to more customers. This position
Quite simply, the greater we grow sales of DocuSign ground-breaking technology, products and services, the further and faster we can help drive growth across the organization. That's where Sales Planning and Strategy comes in. Pushing forward key sales strategic initiatives and supporting the development of long-term sales growth plans, this executive will help enable the global field operations team to deliver more complex innovative technology to more customers than ever before. It's a far-reaching and varied field that includes innovating, developing and managing sales measurement models, analyzing our strategic priorities and identifying new areas of opportunity. From evaluating sales incentive plans to diagnosing sales force training needs, it's about improving both the quality and quantity of sales activities.

This critical role will support the global businesses in driving growth and profitability through assessing trends in data, developing forward-looking financial plans and recommendations, identifying risks and opportunities, driving strategic initiatives, coordinating across key partners and stakeholders, and optimizing key sales levers to improve business performance. Additionally, this role will require someone who thrives working in a fast paced and growth-oriented function and who can collaborate across teams to achieve successful outcomes.

The ideal candidate thrives in a data-driven, problem-solving environment, can seamlessly transition between high level strategy and detailed insights, and can articulate and develop content for an executive audience. This person will help shape our internal narrative and overall positioning for our products, own our Client Strategy and Insights and partner closely with our Marketing organization. They also have experience managing and scaling teams of strategy professionals/analysts and experience coaching teams on analysis and technical skills as needed.

As a Sales Planning & Strategy Executive, you will drive key sales strategic initiatives while identifying and evaluating sales growth opportunities. This is a key role that will influence sales behavior and capabilities across the Global Field Sales Organization.

This position is a people manager reporting to the President, Worldwide Field Operations and is designated Flex.

Responsibilities
  • Be instrumental in partnering with the Global Sales Executive in creating and building Sales Strategy
  • Develop, design, and monitor operational cadence, sales tools, tasks and programs
  • Use sales measurement models and diagnostic tools to help identify sales performance indicators, key areas of opportunity and sales force training needs
  • Identify and bring key strategic issues and opportunities forward in a clear and structured way
  • Lead and optimize content of meetings in alignment with strategic priorities globally
  • Turn ambiguity into plans and action items: Parachute into ambiguous initiatives or messy situations, sort through the details and nuance, and then turn your learnings into documented project plans and clear action items with specific owners
  • Analyze and recommend strategic priorities, sales force performance metrics, growth strategies and sales effectiveness tracking methods in order to maintain and improve the company's competitive advantage in the market
  • Serve as the primary interface with other internal functions, based on BU and/or Global and regional requirements
  • Support leadership development: In collaboration with the President, support and coach leadership team on their team scaling, hiring, cross-functional collaboration, policy and process creation and adoption, people development, and team culture initiatives
  • Be a trusted advisor: Participate in many business reviews/rhythm of the business meetings and be expected to share their perspective and counsel. Will seek to be a trusted advisor to individuals throughout the team as well as the Sales LT. You will be asked to take on special projects by the President needing senior attention
  • Influence a broad spectrum of stakeholders toward achieving business goals
  • Cross Functional collaboration at the executive levels with the global field operations leaders to build out a Sales Strategy and Operations Plan aligned with DocuSign Company goals and objectives
  • Direct change management to cross-functional company-wide initiatives
  • Lead Global communications: This role will be responsible for educating and inspiring key constituents internally and externally with clear and compelling executive communications; communications will range from emails to all-hands and keynote presentations
  • Elaborate, specify, test and roll-out the strategic vision on new market driven business concepts, advanced technological solutions and sales support services with key customers to drive effectiveness and efficiency
  • Prepare high-level presentations on behalf of Sales Executive/President- requires understanding of complex topics and translating them into meaningful and effective communications to diverse audiences, including Board members
  • Align strategic priorities across management team and support global priorities as needed
  • Generate and increase revenue through sales of show content, video and high impact targeted digital media solutions
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the President of Global Field Operations and interface and collaborate cross-functionally to maintain communication across business groups
  • Serve as organization spokesperson on specialized projects and programs
  • Benchmark our current field operations capabilities to better understand our gaps and greatest opportunities for improvement under the lens of end-to-end functionality
  • Have an expert understanding of customer/industry climate
  • Evolve the framework and structure for critical executive leadership meetings
  • Align the roadmap and drive the prioritization of the right efforts in order to increase operational efficiency and overall business delivery
  • Champion a collaborative and inclusive relationship and cadence with Customer Success, Marketing, Sales Leadership and G&A partners
  • Operate as a delegate: Act as an extension of the President, including representing him in meetings and interviews when he can't be in two places at once
Basic qualifications
  • 15+ years of relevant sales experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience with demonstrated success in sales and sales leadership positions with a deep understanding of Go-To-Market and execution model (Strategy Consulting, Business Development, Finance or other relevant experience)
  • Typically requires 5+ years diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to build lasting relationships across multiple layers in the organization
  • Ability to demonstrate experience managing complex sales/GTM problems in a fast growing, dynamic environment supporting executive leaders
  • Capable of building, implementing and monitoring GTM methodologies, processes and policies that create actionable deliverables that support revenue goals
  • Definable experience influencing change management, problem resolution, and communicating complex ideas in coherent terms to a cross function groups in a scaling environment
  • Strong bias for action, an intrinsic ability to deal with ambiguity, and natural perseverance
  • Superb communications and engagement abilities: You are a natural at knowing your audience and are able to communicate through numerous channels, operating comfortably at all levels of the business
  • Ability to communicate and interact with executive leadership
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and project management skills
Preferred qualifications
  • 10+ years in SaaS sales and a Masters or the equivalent is preferred
  • Experience managing and running fast paced sales organizations
