This is the Invention Age and this is where you come in. Qualcomm Modem SW, is working on strategic projects for the development of new technologies related to 5G, IOT, Auto and similar technologies. Individuals in this role will work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop software for large scale commercial products.

The 5G NR Software team is looking for a candidate with strong embedded systems design, programming, debugging and problem solving skills. The position involves working with Standards, Systems, Firmware, Hardware, Protocol Layer Software and Test teams to gather requirements, design and implementation of 5G NR Physical Layer features on the QCT modem product lines and is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work on a cutting edge 5G wireless standard. Prior experience in modem software (Layer 1) design, implementation, debugging, testing and commercialization in UMTS, GERAN, CDMA, LTE or related technologies highly desired.
The responsibilities of this role include:
Working under close supervision.
Taking responsibility for own work and making decisions with limited impact; Impact of decisions is readily apparent; errors made typically only impact timeline (i.e., require additional time to correct).

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Designs, implements, verifies, validates, and commercializes Wireless WAN (or cellular) modem air interface RAN (Radio access Network) technologies by working on Modem access stratum and RF SW design, optimizations & algorithms, and with the RFFE team to define and guide the modem IP architecture, RFFE design, HW APIs, core systems algorithms and the right HW/SW/co-processor architecture. Works on the transceiver, and HW control and wireless Radio Access Stratum software implementation of a multi-RAT (Radio Access Technology) from industry specifications (most notably 3GPP with LTE and 5GNR). Has experience in the WWAN L1/L2/L3 specifications and can efficiently implement the shared resources of a multi-RAT modem. Works closely with other functional groups to develop a cost effective, high quality and high capability modem IP that meets industry and customer requirements with high performance (e.g., throughput, latency, power consumption) and acceptable cost (e.g., silicon area, calibration complexity, code size).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
1+ years of experience with programming (e.g., C, C++, Python), computer architecture, or embedded systems.
1+ year of applicable wireless, semiconductor and/or embedded software industry experience.
6+ months of WWAN modem development specific experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Applies modem knowledge (e.g., RF, baseband, signal processing, computer architecture, communication protocols, VLSI) and design methodology for one area of modem access stratum/RF software to execute modem assignments.
Participates in design reviews and project meetings.
Works under supervision to develop software models and simulations to design a well-defined component; collaborates with peers within team to design products that meet customer requirements and standards.
Develops test cases to test/verify design for a well-defined component; identifies observable differences in results; works with team members to validate modem against specifications; tests accuracy, reliability, and robustness of design for a well-defined test plan.
Helps resolve issues during implementation and commercialization with guidance.
Writes technical documentation and feature descriptions for straightforward projects under the direction of a supervisor.
