SUMMARY

The Sr Financial Analyst, Simulations and M&A is responsible for performing interpretive analysis and provide "financial decision" support. The position will act as a financial business partner to executive and senior management by understanding their business, goals and financial reporting needs, and will act as a program leader supporting companywide business cases and mergers and acquisition activities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies and Information Protection requirements.

  • Serve as a strategic financial business partner to other areas of the Credit Union by acting as the subject matter expert for financial business cases, strategic analytical needs, and mergers and acquisitions

  • Provide analytical support in the development of the Credit Union's strategic and annual financial plan and periodic updates, and provides analytical support in the development of new products, functions, and strategic initiatives.

  • Works with business unit executives to evaluate project business cases, evaluate monthly department expense, and design new processes and methods to improve forecasted results.

  • Act in a consulting capacity and provide support to Credit Unions executives,, departments, and projects.

  • Participate in varied, broad and cross-divisional assignments.

  • Continuously assess the Credit Union's position in relation to the annual financial plan.

  • Independently performs financial studies and analyses to devise strategies that drive future actions of the Credit Union.

  • Continuously assesses the Credit Union's long-term, forecasted position in relation to ever changing variables.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and related regulatory matters, and how changes would impact strategic analyses

  • Lead in the preparation of multi-year financial models and schedules.

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the PeopleSoft accounting system and Hyperion budget system.

  • Lead the development of ad-hoc analyses and forecasts on strategic initiatives/ideas.

  • Maintain effective communication with all Credit Union employees (internal customers) to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing Credit Union goals.

  • For the purpose of attaining Credit Union goals, it is the responsibility of each employee to strive for continuous quality improvement of processes and quality of service to internal and external customers.

  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or business administration, or equivalent work-related experience. MBA/CFA/CPA preferred.

  • Ten years of related experience in a financial institution, or comparable work or educational experience.

  • Proficient PC skills (Microsoft Office and flow-charting), with the ability to learn new software.

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to plan, organize and implement multiple projects in a timely manner.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate in the English language.

  • Ability to work independently, and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgement in problem solving.

  • Full time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
