Correctional Health LPN

A Virginia-based private network is currently seeking a new Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their Correctional Health team at one of their facilities.

Responsibilities:

The Correctional Health LPN will:

• Provide total healthcare to offenders (routine, chronic and emergent care); maintain continuity of care from admission to discharge
• Screen for sick call and provides first aid and basic life support to patients and employees., as needed
• Maintain open lines of communication with security and treatment staff while providing input and feedback to assist the facility provider in organizing a treatment plan
• Record all pertinent information into the medical record.
• Administer safe medication following DOC policy
• Provide employee health services in accordance with policy
• Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• 1 year of Nursing experience
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• VA Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• BLS certification
• Working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of practical or general nursing care and of institutional operating procedures including related security procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals.
• Experience in carrying out provider’s orders in applying treatments.
• Competent First Aid skills
• Solid assessment, clinical, and documentations kills
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized
