Job Description
The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden has been recognized as one of the most beautiful display gardens in America, and has 17 major gardens, and 29 smaller ones and 2 signature gardens throughout its 66 acres. These are A Tasteful Place, a fruit, herb and vegetable teaching garden and The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden, an 8-acre outdoor science museum teaching life and earth science principles in an engaging way. As the number one rated visitor destination in Dallas by Trip Advisor, it is known for 5 seasonal color change outs, enabling the garden to have year round color. The garden has a budget of $22 million, average visitation of over a million guests a year and a membership base of over 45,000.
JOB SUMMARY:
Promptly and pleasantly answer phones. Accurately answer questions, sell tickets, and as needed redirect calls to specific departments for special assistance. Assist with various office tasks during times of slow attendance. Contribute to team effort.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Promptly and courteously answer phone calls
- Maintain current, basic knowledge of Dallas Arboretum policies
- Maintain an accurate call count
- Redirect phone calls as needed
- Take complaints and address or forward to designated individuals
- Process transactions accurately and timely
- Process Memberships accurately and timely
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school education or equivalent
- Phone sales/service experience desirable but will train
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft software
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
KEY COMPONENTS
- Candidates with weekend availability will be prioritized
- Ability to courteously and calmly interact with unhappy customers
- Team member with commitment to good customer relations
- Flexible and responsive
