The Molding Set-up Technician sets/pulls molds in injection molding machines for startup by process technicians for production. The Molding Set-up Technician also sets up machine auxiliary equipment to ensure proper part containment during production runs. This position also assists with color changes and line clearances as required. This position also requires the ability to plan and perform the sequence of operations and the making of major decisions, involving the running or stopping of molds. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Fill in for the Molding Maintenance Lead when called upon. Assist in assigning daily job duties. Assist in coordinating special projects. Set up new machines and equipment. Repair and maintenance of equipment listed Molding machines, Conair systems, temperature controllers, themolators, air compressors, water chiggers, robots, auxiliary equipment, pump room maintenance, control systems, Mattec MIU's, achromatic control systems, rewire molds, configure temperature controls. Understand and operate a wide assortment of machines listed: Grinders, mills, welders, oscilloscopes, vtvm signal generators, board analyzers, transistor checkers, calipers, micrometers, breakout boxes, chart recorders, programmers (Omron), forklifts. Read and understand hydraulic prints, electrical schematics and pneumatic prints. Job Requirements: One year certificate from college or technical; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a high degree of knowledge about molding machines, their operation, set up, care and maintenance to be able to set up molds and related equipment in order to produce quality parts at production standards. Must have some knowledge of various plastic materials as well as hydraulic, electrical and mechanical understanding.
