Radio Access Network (RAN) Performance Engineer (Kansas City)

Description

This position is responsible for engineering, monitoring and analyzing the Radio Access Network (RAN) Key Performance Indicator (KPI) statistics to identify performance issues and initiate corrective action. The duties of this position include utilizing several sources for cell site statistics and data (i.e., SQL/Oracle databases using a Microsoft Access front-end, and Drive Data). In addition, this position will be responsible for developing reports, processes and procedures to ensure the RAN network meets all defined KPIs Execution of test plans ensuring requirements are met, automation of test cases, documentation of test procedures, reporting and analysis of issues, bug fix verification. Development of interoperability test plans including site shakedown, site verification and field trial test plans

  • Responsible for all performance engineering and development of the configuration for all features in the RAN. This includes the setup for all services.

  • Perform analysis of network KPIs, troubleshoot issues, and be involved hands-on with day-to-day performance management/optimization functions for the RAN Network.

  • Compile reports and perform in-depth technical analysis of data from multiple sources.

  • Open and track trouble tickets for site issues based on technical analysis.

  • Take corrective action to resolve site issues, which may include working with other departments and vendors.

  • Perform parameter audits, data-fill parameters, conduct pre/post analysis, and prepare performance reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer or other related engineering discipline from an accredited program.

  • A minimum of 5 years experience with LTE wireless data is required.

  • Experience working with OSS platform for parameter retrieval/changes, alarm monitoring, and performance analysis.

  • Experience with drive data collection tools such as NEMO, XCAL, TEMS, etc.

  • Experience using data processing tools/softwares including Actix Analyzer, Windcatcher, XCAL, TEMS, etc.

  • Experience monitoring and analyzing critical KPIs; Retainability, Accessibility, Integrity, Mobility, HO optimization, and new feature activation.

  • Experience utilizing data analytics tools.

  • Knowledge of network diagnostic tools/commands, data networking protocols, and experience tuning LTE parameters and a good knowledge of LTE 3GPP standards, LTE RAN air interface, L3 signaling, and LTE RAN functionality.

  • Experience generating RF engineering and management reports in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. Basic programming skills, such as experience with Visual Basic, in order to develop database queries that convert raw statistics into useful information.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft computer applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook required

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent oral & written communication skills. Scripting to support network maintenance, network expansion, layer management and IRAT configurations.

  • 5 years experience using RF predictive tools ATOLL/Planet

  • Minimum 3 years experience with query and template creation for LTE KPIs.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and excellent oral & written communication skills required.

  • Must possess the ability to solve complex problems, demonstrate the ability to conduct strategic analysis in order to make decisions with time constraints.
