RN/LPN Charge Nurse Per diem



Job Description

General Description:

Provide nursing care according to physician’s orders and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards and administrative policies.Required to work every other weekend & holiday.Experience in rehabilitation preferred.

Essential Job Functions:

1.Demonstrates the ability to contribute to resident care conferences and develop and implement care plans.

2.Demonstrates the ability to maintain safe IV therapy.

3.Demonstrates the ability to administer medications, narcotics, and treatments (sterile dressing, clean dressing, proper surgical technique) including proper documentation.

4.Demonstrates the ability to transcribe and execute doctors and pharmacy orders.

5.Demonstrates knowledge, understanding and ability to use diagnostic equipment, i.e., Protime, EKG, glucometer, feeding pump, Doppler, pulse oximeter for O2saturation.

6.Provides accurate, timely input of MDS reporting requirements, working in partnership with PPS Coordinator.

7.Demonstrates knowledge of the admission process and documentation to include initial nursing assessment and care planning process.

8.Demonstrates knowledge of Medicare Policies and Procedures and documentation guidelines.

9.Recognized resident change of condition and initiates proper intervention.

10.Knowledgeable of Residents Rights and facility Abuse Policies and Procedures.

11.Perform any other duties or responsibilities that may become necessary or as directed by the DNS or supervisor.

Work Area and Working Conditions:

Entire Health Center facility

Professional Qualifications:

1.Graduate of accredited School of Nursing

2.Current registration in the State of Connecticut

3.IV certification is required.

4.Must have tolerance and compassion for the geriatric population.

5.Must be a team leader and a team player.Able to work with others.

6.Must be knowledgeable of infection control policies and procedures and universal precautions.

Physical Requirements:

•Good physical and mental health.

•Must have understanding, patience and tact in dealing with co-workers, residents and family members.
