We're currently looking for an excited and talented Sr Prototype Technician to help us push our organization forward by helping us in the following ways:

• Ability to design and fabricate tools, gages, fixtures, test equipment etc.
• Experience working with engineering to implement changes on prototype and production parts
• Experience maintaining shop equipment, ordering shop materials, hardware, tools etc. as needed
• Proficiently operate all shop equipment to instruct, direct, monitor, and mentor engineering staff in use of various tools and equipment to enable them to complete their own tasks when possible
• Experienced with programming CAD/CAM software
• Must be able to determine where to outsource work when necessary
• Have strong inspection skills, metrology skills are used daily
• Must be familiar with GD&T
• Must be able to work from verbal instruction as well as from cad models and engineering drawings
• Must be able to assist and instruct in setup of parts for force travel measurements in our switch lab (Determining how to hold the parts and what type of end effector will be key)
• Must follow health and safety requirements
• Experienced benchmarking tools through reverse engineering on many products
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping process helpful
• Experience with machining many types of metals and plastics
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication skills would be helpful
• Ability to perform well under emergency customer requests (quick turnaround)
• Strong written & verbal communion skillset needed when communicating with engineering, must be able to explain the methodology you would like to use, leave no doubt that you are starting out with the best possible solution the group can come up with. This can only be done by sharing and discussing all the fabricating solutions you can think of.
• Must be a self-starter who has ability to work with little to no supervision

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred.
• Extensive and relevant experience of at least 5 years within R&D prototype space, preferably within the automotive sector
• Essential negotiation and leadership skills, proactive team player, sense of responsibility, self-motivated and goal-oriented attitude
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent internal and customer facilitation, communication, and documentation skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel).
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
