Instrumentation and Electrical Technician
The general responsibilities for an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician include troubleshooting and repairing Instrument/Electrical Equipment. Perform installation of instrument and electrical equipment.
Additional responsibilities for the Instrumentation and Electrical Technician include, but aren’t limited to:
• Possess knowledge and worked on following devices:
o Temperature measurement (thermocouple, resistance temperature detector (RTD), filled systems and converters),
o Pressure measurement (all types),
o Flow measurement (magnetic flow, orifice plate, vortex, Coriolis effect and positive displacement),
o Level measurement (bubbler, diaphragm, capacitance, buoyancy and ultrasonic), and
o Conductivity measurement (L and N electrode, Foxboro electrode-less and Uniloc Toroidal).
• Familiar with pH measurement, controls, and theory. Automatic control valves – rebuilding of valves & top works. Valves positioners – electronic & pneumatic.
• Acquainted with analyzers (O2, SO2, TOC, CO, pH), temperature and pressure switches, voltage and current relays, pneumatic controllers, I/P and P/I transducers and programmable controllers.
• Performed work on electrical circuitry & components namely on high, medium, and low voltage systems in particular motor control centers (MCC) and switchgear.
• Possess knowledge of programmable logic controller (PLC) and distributed control system (DCS) systems: Proportional band (gain), integral (reset) & derivative (preact).
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical motors and generators.
• Run conduit and pull wire associated with maintenance work.
• Operate machinery necessary to complete these tasks such as forklifts, man-lift, drill presses, conduit threader, and saws & assorted hand tools.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections on plant equipment.
• Assist and review in writing job procedures.
• Responsible for following all Safety policies that have been established at the Houston plant e.g., Stop Work Policy, Zero Tolerance Policy, etc.
• Participate in risk assessment audits (PHA, CTA, JSA, etc.) as applicable.
• Immediately report any unsafe conditions or behavior to your supervisor & write safe work orders or Near Miss reports to document the unsafe conditions or actions.
• Ensure all applicable permits have been issued, equipment is properly locked out & tagged out & use the proper PPE & tools required for the specific job.
