Director - Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting

An investment company in New Jersey is actively seeking a driven and dynamic professional to join their staff as their new Director of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting. In this role, the Director of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting will be responsible for the financial reporting workflow.

Responsibilities

The Director of Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting will be responsible for:

• Timely preparation of financial reports filed with the SEC or other counterparties
• Performing and directing technical accounting research and oversight
• Leading the development, implementation, and management of internal controls in accordance with SOX 404
• Managing ad hoc requests from various stakeholders within the firm, including deal teams and asset managers
• Oversight of the company’s overall financial reporting workflow,
• Identifying and communicating new or evolving accounting standards

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of experience in financial accounting, including public company financial operations, and financial reporting
• CPA or equivalent
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, combined with the ability to research, evaluate, and support company positions on new and complex accounting issues
• Ability to work well with external auditors on financial reporting and related technical accounting issues and ensure auditor agreement with company conclusions
• Proven analytical abilities
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Demonstrated attention to detail

Desired skills

• Experience in the energy, real estate, or financial services sectors
• Experience accounting for large and complex consolidations and M&A transactions
• Experience with Workday ERP or Workiva
• Prior experience at a Big Four accounting firm
