Assistant Controller

Description The ideal candidate for this Assistant Controller position is an ambitious self-starter who loves analyzing data and applying their technical skills to their work. Robert Half is searching for a team player to join a reputable company as the Assistant Controller. This Assistant Controller position, which is a long-term contract / temporary to hire employment opportunity, is based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

Your responsibilities

  • Handle treasury function to ensure vendors are paid timely and cash forecasts are accurate

Ensure the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close are completed, as well financial statements

  • Effectively prepare reporting packages on a monthly and quarterly basis and supply to Board meeting decks

  • Supervise financial executive package and control book on a monthly basis to include budget to actual comparisons by department

  • Uphold accounting and reporting policies

  • Prepare and manage account reconciliations/analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts

  • Guide and manage external financial audits

  • Play an active role in the development of the accounting team, including the staffing, performance management, and training of team members

  • Provide external reporting, technical accounting GAAP mentorship, and support to the Company

Other responsibilities may include participation in special projects, system improvements or impromptu analyses/projects as assigned Requirements - Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Sage X3

  • Cost accounting experience desired

  • Adeptness in Microsoft Excel

  • Month end closings experience preferred

  • Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience

  • Proficiency in manufacturing

  • Forecasting experience

  • Relevant industry experience (preferred)

  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Detailed and have the ability work independently

  • Strong technical background in public accounting (GAAP)

  • Awareness of upcoming tasks, ability to anticipate needs and pre-plan work

  • Related industry experience

  • SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting
