The overall purpose of the Certified Med Tech is to assist the professional nursing staff by preparing, administering, reporting, and recording residents' medications and treatments.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Preparation, administration, reporting, recording and storage of non-controlled medication which includes oral meds, suppositories, ophthalmic meds, nasal meds, otic meds and topical meds.
  • Preparation, administration, reporting, recording and storage of controlled substances.
  • Preparation and administration of PRN meds if needed with routine med pass. Proper recording, reporting to nurse, and follow-up recording in MAR inform charge nurse when and why PRN meds were given.
  • Administer treatments to residents as assigned by charge nurse.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Completed Certified Nurse Aide Training.
  • Certificate in good standing in State Registry.
  • Certified Medication Technician Certificate in good standing.
