Brownlee Lumber, Inc. is searching for a Warehouse Lead / Forklift Operator to assist our Shipping / Receiving Team with day-to-day management and direct execution of core logistics functions.

The Warehouse Lead / Forklift Operator will primarily report to the Production Supervisor (Kiln-Dried Operation) and the Operations Coordinator while monitoring warehouse management systems to effectively fulfill shipping and receiving requests to exceed customer expectations and internal company goals. The Warehouse Lead / Forklift Operator will coordinate the efforts of the Shipping / Receiving Team to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of lumber products to various machine centers and freight loading stations.
Areas of Practice:
  • 80 % Shipping / Receiving – Loading and Unloading. Document Administration, etc.
  • 20 % Warehouse Management – Order Selection, Warehouse Configuration, Inventory, Directing Product Movement, etc.

Responsibilities:
  • Safely and proficiently operate motorized forklifts to load and unload freight trucks and shipping containers, deliver and remove lumber packages from production lines and kilns, and effectively arrange inventory in the warehouse.
  • Receive and accurately process orders / pick lists from COO / OC via direct communication and/or warehouse management systems.
  • Prepare highly legible paperwork and logistics documentation.
  • Assist management with regular audits of lumber inventories.
  • Validate freight weight / load securement for compliance with DOT / FMCSA regulations and internal product standards.
  • Perform daily inspection and basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Ensure Shipping / Receiving Team adheres to OSHA safety standards and quality assurance processes.
  • Occasionally train Shipping / Receiving Team on warehouse processes and/or certified forklift operation.
Basic Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • At least 2-5 years of recent forklift/warehouse experience.
  • Must be able to comprehend shipping/receiving orders with detailed specifications.
  • Detail oriented and organized, with intermediate reading/writing comprehension and math skills.
  • Must take initiative and work independently with minimal direction.
  • Basic competence with business-level software programs.
  • Complete and maintain an OSHA approved forklift certification.
  • Complete pre-employment criminal background and drug screening.
  • Maintain a drug-free workplace.
