Quality Engineer
Job Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for leading and managing a wide range of quality projects and actions on both Nordson products and processes. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player that can also function independently. The Quality Engineer will be required to effectively manage project and corrective action timelines and keep management appraised of progress. The Quality Engineer as needed will be required to travel to customer or supplier facilities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Corrective Action Preventative Action Process:
* Leads and participates in daily analysis and implementation of short and long-term corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of customer quality issues
* Utilizes problem solving methodologies to identify root cause and to drive sustainable countermeasure activities to reduce CAPA (corrective action preventative action) time to closure
* Leads and coordinates containment and communication activities with a global customer and supplier base
* Leads and drives CAPA activities through engineering change management processes
Lean / Continuous Improvement Process:
* Leads and assists in collaborative cross-functional teams utilized to develop and to execute product design and manufacturing improvement initiatives
* Uses basic and advanced Lean / CI tools to drive sustainable improvements and solutions
Education and Experience Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree - Engineering
Experience
4-7 years of quality engineering or assurance related experience
Preferred Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrated skills and experience in Root Cause Analysis / Problem Solving Methods (A3, 8-D, PDCA, DMAIC)
* Excellent organizational and communication skills
* Excellent Project Management skills
* Ability to work effectively on multiple projects and activities
* Highly motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
* Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
* Experience with SAP or an ERP System preferred
* Lean / Six Sigma certification or experience (6S, Kaizen) preferred
* Experience with GD&T methodology and knowledge in ANSI requirements preferred
* AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred
