Responsibilities:
- The maintenance planning/scheduling function is the hub from which all planned maintenance, and response to unplanned maintenance requirements are coordinated. 1)
- Maximizing “wrench time” of Maintenance Technicians and service providers by ensuring necessary parts, tools, plans, and procedures are provided, and,
- Scheduling approved preventive, corrective and general maintenance jobs, activities, and tasks with minimal interruption to facilities and production operations where time efficiencies, inventories, capacities, and good customer services are competing objectives.
- In this capacity, the Facilities Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is the principal contact and liaison between facilities, production, quality, safety, and other supporting departments in relation to determining scope, timing, and execution of planned and unplanned maintenance work on various utility and laboratory systems operated and supported by Hard and Soft Services.
- The Facilities Maintenance Planner/Scheduler works to ensure that production groups balance their need for daily output with their need of equipment reliability through the application of sound maintenance methodologies and proactive practices.
- Duties and responsibilities of this role are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures and practices, and accountability to goals and decision-making relative to Facilities Management.
- Additionally, the Facilities Maintenance Planner/Scheduler manages the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) / Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system and supports other staff in effectively and efficiently utilizing the CMMS/EAM; identifies and facilitates improvements to the performance of the CMMS/EAM; and utilizes reporting and analysis tools to leverage CMMS/EAM functionality.
- This position plays a key role in providing technical assistance and training to users; and ensures all CMMS/EAM procedures are understood and followed consistently throughout the organization.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate preventive, corrective and general maintenance activities to facilities and production requirements.
- Provide maintenance support for facilities and production projects.
- Investigate maintenance-related issues, analyze root causes and drive solutions.
- Assure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Manage aspects of the CMMS/EAM and other work ticketing systems.
- Manage work order backlog
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED. Advanced degree/certification(s) in technical and/or maintenance related disciplines required.
- At least six (6) years of experience in a biopharmaceutical environment (i.e. – R&D, cGMP Laboratory, Clinical Manufacturing, or Commercial Manufacturing).
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years Facilities Maintenance Planner/Scheduler experience in a biopharmaceutical environment.
- At least two (2) years maintenance and supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge and background in performing maintenance and repair of utility systems, including HVAC and Specialty Exhaust systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), Stand-by Generator and Electrical Distribution systems, RO/DI and other Water systems, Compressed Gas systems, Compressed Air systems, Vacuum systems, Glassware Washers/Dryers, Autoclaves) in order to effectively plan and schedule maintenance activities.
- Working knowledge of maintenance requirements for various laboratory systems and assets, including Fume Hoods, BSCs, Water Purification Units, RO/DI systems, and Gas Distribution Sytems.
- Intermediate non-capital project management experience.
- Strong working knowledge of CMMS/EAM use, administration, and management.
- Parts and materials inventory management experience.
- The role requires an individual with strong organizational, analytical, and technical skills; problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, as well as independent judgement skills, and interpersonal and customer service skills.
- The Facilities Maintenance Planner/Scheduler must possess the ability and skills to effectively provide direction, lead and work in a dynamic organizational environment and effectively communicate in non-technical terms to non-technical individuals
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience in continuous and shutdown/startup operations.
- Strong knowledge of GxP and other regulatory compliance standards highly desirable
- Must have experience using and administering a CMMS/EAM.
- Strong knowledge of operations and technical manuals, SOPs, blueprints, drawings, P&IDs
- Six Sigma / Lean Maintenance knowledge and training a plus.
- Must be able to identify and prioritize multiple non-capital projects and perform work with a constant awareness of improving processes.
- Demonstrated capability to analyze and troubleshoot operational and equipment issues and provide reasonable and accurate recommendations and solutions.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to individuals and groups; ability to present complex situations in a concise manner.
- Must interact effectively with technical and professional contacts, as well as hourly workforce.
- Must have excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Must have strong non-capital project management skills.
- Computer skills are a must with knowledge of CMMS/EAM systems, MS Office Suite, and other data and information management systems.
- Ability to build partnerships across and between functional groups and lead projects.
- Proven experience utilizing work management processes to plan and schedule maintenance work.
- Work occurs in office and laboratory environments; Assignments and tasks will occasionally require work in the vicinity of chemicals, compressed gasses, or other hazardous materials.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment for extended periods.
- Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms and paging.
- Must be able to work around hazardous chemicals and materials, and exposure to dust.
- Able to regularly work in and be exposed to outside weather elements (i.e. - rain, snow, cold, heat).
- Must be able to work normal business hours, and non-business hours (i.e. - weekends, holidays, overtime), as needed.
- Must be able to periodically support rotating “on-call” duties and responsibilities, when required.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders; move about laboratory, office and mechanical/utility spaces; bend, kneel, crouch or squat, twist, stoop and remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.
- Must be able to move objects weighing up to 25-lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must have driver’s license.
