About this role:
The Business Process and Product Management Platform Support team, within Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT), focuses on supporting, maintaining, and ensuring stable, secure, always-on applications within the IT for IT Application Suite. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to execute and implement SRE and DevOps methodologies from scratch while supporting the current IT for IT Applications residing on multiple platforms. We solve operational issues with strategic thinking and precision execution.
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer who enjoys and thrives on solving problems through innovation impacting change at scale in a diverse environment. You will join a focused team of System Support Engineers who are building SRE and DevOps practices into an existing application portfolio. The team will drive technology transformation and adoption of SRE and DevOps aligned enterprise capabilities and products, leverage new tooling, automate away complex issues and build this foundation leveraging peer teams in the Enterprise.
This role will leverage their experience as software and systems engineer to ensure applications are supported, incidents are handled, TOIL is automated, and the IT for IT portfolio of applications are onboarded into Enterprise SRE and DevOps practices. They will ensure the applications have a full stack of observability, will introduce and create continuous improvement through code and automation, and provide operational insight through analytics and technical execution.

In this role, you will:
- Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within the IT for IT application environment.
- Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth analysis, provide solutions, and execute those solutions to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and reduce toil.
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals.
- Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
- Apply technology background in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering and systems engineering to help onboard into DevOps/SRE and ensure the applications on-boarded to SRE are available, have full-stack observability, are integrated with CI/CD, and always-on by introducing continuous improvement through code and automation and provide operational insight through observability, monitoring, and incident analytics.
- Execute on DevOps and SRE practices, principles, and culture through leading by example. Assist in training the organization by partnering with the application teams to establish proper DevOps and SRE practices, contribute to the SRE Playbook, and improve efficiencies through analysis, monitoring, and automation.
- Assess the availability of critical business flows, identify service level objectives and indicators, and conduct destructive and resiliency testing to reach SLI/SLOs for the firm's critical products and services leading to improved customer experience and customer satisfaction.
- Work with Application Team developers to review code deployments and prepare for changes to the environment. Proactively review past changes and incidents to improve future stability of applications.
- Identify and develop metrics, dashboards, and views of data that provides insight and review of data to protect the availability of supported applications.
- Create process for continuous inspection capabilities code quality to identify problems before they manifest in production.
- Share support responsibilities for critical applications, to identify systemic issues, conduct blameless post mortems, root cause analysis, and introduce strategic solutions in code that solve the problem and eliminate repeat issues.
- 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- Proven experience with one or more software development languages: Java, Python, Go, .NET.
- Proven experience with the following Observability and Monitoring Tools: Splunk, AppDynamics, SiteScope, Aternity.
- Proven experience with one or more OS/Platforms: AWS, PCF, PKS, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, Azure, Windows
- 2+ years of platform engineering experience
- 2+ years of JIRA experience
- 1+ years of Confluence experience
- 2+ years of process definition and documentation experience
- 2+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience with one or more Observability/Monitoring /AIOPS tools: Elastic, Kibana, Grafana, AppDynamics, Big Panda.
- Experience with one or more Operations Utility Tools: ServiceNow, Remedy, IBM Netcool, Data/Data Structures: Oracle, SQL, Hadoop, Spark, Teradata.
