Arc Herkimer is looking for a Mechanic. The Mechanic shall be responsible for the repair and upkeep of all Agency vehicles as directed by the Fleet Maintenance Manager and/or Transportation Manager.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for the repair and upkeep of all agency vehicles as directed by the Fleet Maintenance Manager and/or Transportation Manager.
• In the absence of the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Transportation Manager, take initiative to ensure vehicle repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and other duties related to the upkeep of agency vehicles are completed.
• Keep accurate records as relates to individual vehicles and recording, and keep up-to-date totals of inventory.
• Fulfill all NYS DMV and NYS DOT regulations pertaining to vehicle repairs and record keeping.
• Prepare vehicles for NYS DMV and NYS DOT inspections.
• Collect and review daily driver logs, reports; ensure prompt completion of repairs noted on said reports and ensure that the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Transportation Manager are kept informed of all problems concerning Arc Herkimer vehicles.
• Promptly inform the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Transportation Manager of any abuse of Agency vehicles by agency personnel.
• Oversee proper use of all agency owned tools assigned to the Transportation Department.
• Drive bus or van as directed by the Fleet Maintenance Manager or Transportation Manager.
• Undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the Fleet Maintenance Manager and/or Transportation Manager.

Position requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED;
• 3 years professional experience with vehicle maintenance required including medium duty bus / truck chassis including air brakes, diesels and gas engines.
• Section 720 and 721 of N.Y.S. D.O.T. regulations preferred.
• Must possess NYS Inspection Certification or obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.
• Must possess CDL Class B license or obtain license within 6 months of hire date.
• Must have basic tools to perform maintenance of medium duty vehicles.
