Medical Coding Auditor
Classification: Medical Billing Specialist
Compensation: $14.25 to $16.50 hourly
Conducts monthly internal audits of medical records in the Mental Health Clinic for all active and recently closed cases to verify the presences of required documentation, signatures and compares dates of documented services with billing system chargers. Performs concurrent audits 10% of new admits, 25% monthly of each Therapist?s caseload, and final audit of records at discharge. Re- audits to ensure corrective actions have been completed.
Reports all audit findings to Senior Quality Assurance Specialist.
Performs periodic audits of ACCES-VR records to verify presence of New York State Education Department documentation.
Utilizes computerized word processing and spreadsheets to tabulate audit findings.
Supervises HIM clerk and is responsible for assisting direct report in successful accomplishment of identified key functions and goals by providing needed resources, leadership and coaching.
Conducts 100% audit of the current Psychiatrist progress notes for Medicare clients following the guidelines established by CMS and OMH and codes the visits.
Reviews and codes psychiatry notes to determine if the criteria established by CMS and OMH is met for billing add-ons.
Assists the Senior Quality Assurance Specialist with reporting data as needed.
Participates on the EMR implementation team. As a trained WYSIWYG designer, assists in the development of new electronic forms, creates new forms within the record, and revises current forms as needed.
Supports clinical staff related to the management of the medical record and medical record processes. Distributes medical records to clinicians in accordance with scheduled appointments.
Files documentation into active and inactive medical records on a timely basis.
Assures all documentation is maintained in correct sequence according to the organized structure of the chart.
Composes and prepares correspondence requests both internal and external. Receives and processes requests for information for clients.
Adheres to Company policies and procedures to include being aware of the importance of Corporate Compliance Policies and the Code of Conduct. Staff is responsible for maintaining required certifications and licenses.
Attends necessary trainings and in-services, participates in department and agency meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor/director.
