Job Description

Project Location - PA Turnpike (Quakertown Area)

Erdman Anthony is seeking qualified Construction Inspectors for a multi-year roadway and bridge reconstruction project on the Northeast extension near Quakertown. This work is being performed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

1. Observe the construction contractors’ operations to ensure all work is following the Turnpike specifications and guidelines.

2. Document the work being performed each day including staff and equipment on site.

3. Verify construction work conformity with the approved plans, specifications, and contract provisions.

4. Keep electronic records utilizing the PTC's Construction Documentation System (CDS) to document the construction progress utilizing the provided iPad.

5. Measure and record pay quantities in CDS

6. Valid Pa Driver's License required

Education/Experience/Certifications

Education, experience and/or NICET certifications will determine the inspection classification per outline below:

1. Graduation from High School or equivalent certification or formal training.

Completion of a training program in construction inspection approved by the Commission may be substituted for High School graduation. and One (1) year of experience in construction inspection or workmanship which requires reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications, or one (1) year of experience in a variety of assignments involving the testing of materials used in highway or similar construction projects. A two (2) to four (4) year engineering college degree may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

2. Certification by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, (NICET) as a Transportation Engineering Technician - Construction Level 2 or higher.

3. Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology with two (2) years of highway inspection experience acceptable to the Commission.

4. Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology with three (3) years of highway inspection experience acceptable to the Commission.

5. NICET Highway Construction, PennDOT Concrete, and NECEPT Bituminous Field certifications are preferred but not required.
