Linux Engineer
Vaco has teamed up with a global financial services company searching for Senior Linux Engineer to develop and maintain functional and secure systems and infrastructure. You will lead efforts for the Linux environment and work with the engineering team to troubleshoot and optimize internal systems for the production infrastructure. In this role, you should have excellent problem-solving skills and thorough knowledge of Linux environments (CentOS 8/Oracle Linux 8/RedHat/Rocky), system administration and architecture. Responsibilities
- Work with the global IT organization to design and deploy system hardware/software for our production infrastructure including security patches.
- Supporting a High Availability (HA), Always-on, 24x7 environment. Must have experience working in this environment and be able to outline the nuances in depth.
- Monitor Linux system performance and troubleshoot problems as needed.
- Analyze system problems, make recommendations for support process improvement by communicating to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, and unit leaders
- Analyze utilization trends for ways to prevent future problems and manage upgrades.
- Identify and learn appropriate software applications used and supported by the organization and their reliance on system infrastructure.
- Proactively research new and/or updated technologies as they come available that pertain to our infrastructure.
- Communicate regularly with development and support teams on system status and implementation schedules.
- Remain familiar with PCI and vendor/customer requirements
Preferred requirements
- Minimum five years' experience with managing and engineering highly available, Linux environments including infrastructure design, systems administration, and systems engineering.
- Minimum of six years of hands-on experience with Linux environments (CentOS/Oracle Linux/RedHat/Rocky, etc).
- Must have previous experience building Linux environments and/or supporting enterprise (or global) Linux environments.
- Understanding or exposure to Windows environments preferred:
- Microsoft Architectures: Windows 10, Windows Core, SQL 2019, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policies, Global Catalogs, Directory Replication
- Measures required for maintaining information security compliance
- IIS Administration
- Virtualization technologies, VMWare preferred.
- Scripting: Python, bash, Perl, PowerShell, etc.
- Previous experience supporting multi-tiered Web Applications
- Experience maintaining 24x7 availability of on an OLTP environment.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot problems and analyze technical problems.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to be on call 24x7 including holidays
