Transcriptionist-Per Diem (In-Person, Rhode Island)
Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Functions as a transcriptionist for Brown Surgical Associates and University Cardiovascular Surgical Associates. The Transcriptionist is responsible for consistently and independently transcribing multi-speaker audio recordings completely, accurately, and in adherence to formatting standards and quality requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Accesses pre-recorded audio notes from physician office visits and reviews audio recordings for content.
- Transcribes surgeons’ recordings to type-written format using keyboard, computer, and audio control equipment accurately and with high degree of quality within a defined timeframe.
- Reviews and corrects transcribed documents for accuracy and grammatical errors.
- Saves transcription files into assigned network drive or paper format.
- Completes Transcription Log for each tape completed.
- Accurately labels each audio recording with patient name, date transcription is completed with transcriptionist initials and status of tape.
- Responsible for other duties as may be assigned by Practice Manager.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Medical-surgical transcriptionist experience required.
- Graduate from medical transcription training program or medical transcription certification.
- Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to maintain defined turn-around time for all transcriptions.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent spelling and grammar skills and a strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and sensitivity to confidential information. Maintains strict adherence to patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the organization.
