Forklift / Machine Operator - SECOND SHIFT

Forklift operator

Forklift truck operators load and unload deliveries, and move them to and from storage areas in the warehouse. You'll need to be able to follow written instructions and keep records. Previous experience in a warehouse or depot preferred. Ability in basic math including addition subtraction multiplication and division of whole numbers and decimals. Willingness and ability to work in a warehouse with minimal temperature control, exposed to local temperature variations.

Work activities

• Loading and unloading goods from compactors and trailers

• Moving materials on pallets or in crates around the storage facility

• Stacking goods in the correct storage bunkers, following inventory control instructions

• Checking loads are secure

• Stacking empty pallets

• Helping to load and unload trucks by hand where necessary

• Performing other warehouse tasks like packing.

Machine Operator

Busy recycling plant in Sparrows Point MD is in search of machine operators to work in warehouse environment on a variety of machines including balers, grinders, skid steer loaders and forklift. Knowledge of recycling grades a plus.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

A machine operator must have good math skills and understand complex instructions. Knowledge of how various machines work and the initiative to make sure materials are processed correctly. Proven problem solving skills. Machine operators should know why machines are not at peak performance and how to fix errors. Attention to detail is required. Must be able to work in a busy team environment and possess excellent communication skills.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

• Set up machines at the beginning of shift to ensure proper working order

• Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift

• Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum running

• Troubleshoot problems during machine operation

• Ensure that regular and preventative maintenance procedures are carried out

• Perform safety checks on every machine

• Ensure stocks of needed materials are ready and available at all times

• Create and maintain activity logs

• Provide relevant information regarding progress to supervisors
