Truck Driver / Receiving Clerk

Position Description

Overall Responsibilities:

The Truck Driver / Receiving Clerk loads and transports material from the railroad spur to the Holstein and Sac City facilities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Safely operate company vehicle / truck to transport products between plants and remote / depot locations on time and according to delivery and facility processing schedules
  • Confirm route schedule and details with site Production Managers
  • Verify daily preventative maintenance of vehicle / truck
  • Operate a forklift in a skilled and safe manner
  • Unload rail cars and transport material loads to Holstein and Sac City facilities from rail spurs
  • Plan daily workload using railroad website tracking information
  • Shag trailers for Truck Loader away from loading docks placing in designated locations as needed
  • Assist Receiving Clerk in unloading LTL loads, contract carrier loads, and VT backhaul loads
  • Assist in inventory management including quarterly physical inventory counts
  • Complete 5S checklist
  • Follow trucking / loading SOP
  • Verify wheels are chocked prior to entering trailer
  • Load LTL crates and ensure that LTL carrier, crate, and paperwork match
  • Assist Common Carrier team, Shipping Clerk, and Packaging teams
  • Observe all safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • CDL required with at least 3 years' of CDL driving experience
  • Available to work 8 to 10 hours a day, 5 to 6 days per week
  • Ability to work individually or with team members as assigned
  • All team members are expected to follow the Code of Conduct to the highest standards as well as to adhere to the Attendance Policy of VT Industries

Physical Requirements

Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and the like, using feet and legs and / or hands and arms. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slipper, or erratically moving surfaces. Bend body downward and forward by bending at the waist. Stand and walk for extended periods of time. Push, pull, lift, and grasp, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Must have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment. Subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat on occasion.
