Job Summary

The Physical Security Manager, under the direction and supervision of the Physical Security Senior Manager, is responsible for managing the organization-wide physical security program, ensuring all facilities, personnel, and physical assets are adequately protected from all hazards and providing counsel to real estate and capital planning on all security matters pertaining to existing facilities, new builds and/or retrofits.

Position is based out of the Lowry Corporate Offices in Denver, CO. Position requires ability to respond to security related incidents 24 hours a day X 7 days a week X 365 days a year.

Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities

Functional Category: Management of Physical Security

Estimated Percent of time Spent – 60%

  • Lead the identification, assessment and mitigation of physical security risks to the organization; develop and implement an enterprise-wide physical security framework; develop and implement security incident response plans and protocols; measure performance and drive continuous improvement of the physical security program.
  • Contributing to the development, implement and maintain the company’s policies, standards, guidelines, processes, procedures and plans that will serve to govern and manage physical security for InnovAge. These may include: Security Risk/Vulnerability Assessments, Perimeter Security, Lighting and Security Signage, and Video Management System/Analytics, Access Control Systems, Visitor Management Systems, Intrusion Detection Alarms and Guard Force Operations.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders, including management, other corporate groups and teams, business lines and regions to build consensus and leverage cross-functional resources to mitigate risks to the organization.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and staff to enforce compliance with the developed policies and standards to help ensure consistent application of security practices across the organization and timely response to various security events to include close collaboration with leadership involved in cyber security incidents.
  • Contributing to the development of physical security training and awareness programs.
  • Manage 24 x 7 x 365 Physical Security operations which includes: 1) responding to facility security alarms during and after hours, 2) investigating and managing security related incidents, 3) facilitating fire and police response and assisting with evacuation coordination, 4) configuring and administering access control systems, and 4) initiating and maintaining relationships with Federal, State, and Local law enforcement.
  • Gather, and report on applicable metrics regarding the delivery of physical security functions.
  • Manages Security vendors, determines level of services required, and ensures proper resources and standard operating procedures are in place, up-to-date, and followed.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective disciplinary procedures and practices (under direction of supervisor and in partnership with Human Resources), addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ensures annual employee performance reviews are conducted in a timely and effective manner. Evaluates performance of employees for compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives.
  • Helps set the tone of the department to ensure high morale and teamwork, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.
  • Regularly schedules leadership/management, department, and staff 1:1 meetings to provide leadership, development, and a forum for communication to ensure coordination and collaboration in meeting organization and individual goals.

REQUIRED

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree criminal justice, homeland security or related field

Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

  • Requires state issued driver’s license, personal transportation, good driving record and auto insurance as required by law and the ability to travel.
  • Requires Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and/or Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) designation or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire date.

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum six years of Physical Security experience required.
  • Ideal candidate will have physical security experience in the healthcare industry at health delivery and/or insurance organizations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills and a minimum of six years’ experience supervising staff and managing a Security department.
  • In-depth knowledge on the design, implementation, and maintenance of security programs and service as well as conducting investigations.
  • Ability to perform in-depth investigations for safety and security incidents to include; fact-finding, interviewing, recommending corrective action measures, and compiling and reporting results to leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing projects.
  • Superior customer service skills and orientation
  • Strong verbal and written (report) communications skills and presentation skills.

PREFERRED

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree criminal justice, homeland security or related field

Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

  • ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP), preferred.
  • IAHSS Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA), preferred.
  • Other Physical Security Management related license or certification.

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in physical security operations, with a clear understanding of risk management principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security best practices including subject matter expertise for technical, physical and electronic protection systems.
  • High-level critical thinking and analytical skills, management experience and exceptional relationship management competencies to understand the impact and sensitivity of security issues.
  • An advanced and functional understanding of current and emerging safety and security industry standards, technologies and systems.
  • Ability to develop and project-manage full life-cycle implementations for core physical security programs, including creation of policies, standards, guideline, processes, procedures, plans and tactical deployment of security technologies.

Physical Demands /Work Environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, or clinical setting, and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision (close distance, long distance, depth and peripheral) to assess emergency situations, including to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Depending on assignment, standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required, and travel to visit various cultural, physical, behavioral and environmental settings may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator and to operate standard office and medical equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS

Employees primarily work in an office environment with moderate noise levels and fluctuating indoor temperatures.
