Purpose:
The Production Assistant Line Manager is responsible for assisting the Production Line Manager in directing production employees on their specified line(s) in the manufacturing of all products at Ellison Bakery in accordance with all policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Participate in Pre-Shift meetings with your team.
  • Work with your Production Line Manager to ensure that your line(s) are set up properly prior to starting production.
  • Collaborate with your Production Line Manager to schedule people, according to predetermined guidelines to meet your line(s) production goals and to ensure that production runs effectively and seamlessly.
  • Understand your line(s) production metrics and goals for case count, yield, and downtime and work with your Production Line Manager to accomplish.
  • Appropriate paperwork is completed correctly and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure employees have all work areas cleaned and paperwork is completed by your team.
  • Ensure that product meets all quality specifications, including customer, internal and regulatory.
  • Work with Sanitation Lead to ensure production equipment is cleaned and ready when needed.
  • Actively participate during change-overs to ensure change-over goals are met.
  • Communicate with the Production Line Manager and Maintenance when equipment goes down.
  • Work with the Production Line Manager to establish onboarding which includes; ongoing training and cross-training metrics.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with your team to review production metrics.
  • Notify HR of all issues regarding sensitive content where they will take the lead to facilitate necessary follow-up.

Follow and Enforce All:
  • Company policies.
  • Good manufacturing practices.
  • Food safety management system policies and procedures.
  • Sanitation procedures.

Safety Procedures:
  • Immediately report any and all food safety and quality problems to your Production Line Manager.
  • Collaborate with your Production Line Manager to complete annual evaluations of all team members.
  • Work independently with your Assistant Line Manager to ensure the success of your line(s), manage people and processes.
  • Actively works on the production line to fill in for vacancies to ensure production metrics are met.
  • Collaborate with your Production Line Manager and HR to appropriately staff and retain the team members.
  • Assist in assigning temporary staffing according to production needs.
  • Fill in for Production Line Managers on vacation days and scheduled days off.

Equipment Used:
  • Box cutter.
  • Tape machines.
  • Scales.
  • Hand lifts.
  • Automated equipment – all bakery equipment.

Hours:
  • Afternoon shift.
  • Overtime and weekends may be required.
  • Holidays may be required.

Skills/Work Experience Needed:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years working in a food manufacturing environment highly preferred.
  • 2+ years successfully supervising/managing people preferred.
  • Technical aptitude is beneficial.

Work Environment:
  • Production area can vary in temperature either be cool or warm depending on the season and possibly humid in the summer months.
  • Concrete floors are slippery, especially when wet.
  • Intact senses of sight, with corrective lenses, are necessary.
  • Hearing and vision are required in order to be able to hear and read documents pertaining to the job.
