The Business Process Consultant position for the Transactional Writing & Strategy Team is responsible for deploying an effective communication strategy across business segments for Commercial (E&I) and Medicaid (C&S) communications. This person will be responsible for designing and implementing strategic external communications and thought leadership communication plans that support and complement our business objectives. This person will be responsible for applying our standards and UHC branding to ensure we communicate clearly, accurately and maintain a consistent level for all communication types within Transactional Operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop collaborative relationships with business segment teams and cross-matrix partners to ensure a successful change experience
  • Develop and execute on the communication deployment strategy for each business area, ensuring a streamlined, standardized process for each deployment and support enterprise enhancement communications, as needed
  • Proactively seek out and promote new avenues for communications efforts
  • Developing overall project timelines, contingency plans, communication plans, tracking down details, meeting with stakeholders, answering questions, ensuring results
  • Developing monthly program status reports
  • Developing/delivering stakeholder meeting presentations
  • Writing UAT scenarios (and coordinating testing)
  • Creating communication mockups
  • Revising language to improve health literacy
  • Facilitating member testing (including drafting questions and mockups)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the health care industry and current/emerging trends
  • Define quantitative and qualitative measurement / evaluation processes to assess the effectiveness of communications
  • Manage communication projects to monitor / ensure proper implementation (e.g., role assignments with Communications Senior Specialist, timelines / milestones, issue tracking, deliverables)
  • Adhere to applicable internal and external communications standards established for the business (e.g., internal style guides, communications industry standards)
  • Adapt writing style / tone to meet the needs of the specific message / leader / audience
  • Obtain review of communications content by internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable requirements (e.g., Legal, Clinical, Compliance, etc.)
  • Revise / update communications content / approach as needed, based on established metrics and feedback processes
  • Guide the day-to-day operations of the Communications Pillar and guide the Communications Sr. Specialist staff

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a communications background with business process experience
  • 3+ years of experience with editing and proofreading
  • 3+ years of experience with communication and engagement skills in a complex matrix environment
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Applications including Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
