Job Description

POSITION: Job Development Professional

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Job Development Professional establishes and maintains working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure employment and vocational training opportunities for clients utilizing the Customized Employment approach. This position’s specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the subsequent items, and are characterized in the following standards of performance, defined as below:

I. JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Hold an effective understanding of Customized Employment
  • Network with community businesses to identify new partnerships and cultivate existing partnerships to promote inclusive employment environments
  • Partners with the Regional Vice President of Programs and the Development Office in developing and maintaining business partnerships
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Agency and its business partners for purposes of recruitment and establishing positive working relationships
  • Coordinate financial incentives available to employers; assist employers with any related paperwork
  • Participate in Team Meetings
  • Evaluate an individual's background, skills, and interest and matches to potential job openings or training programs
  • Provide regular communication to employment team regarding recruitment needs of our business partners
  • Provide back-up services such as Job Coaching/Job Placement Services
  • Provide ongoing employment services and supports to the individual and employer to include on-site job support and coaching, re-training, advocacy, career advancement and linkage to other relevant services
  • Provide educational and community awareness programs, to include public speaking, coordinate, facilitate and/or participate with the Agency through attendance at job fairs and stakeholder summits
  • Any additional duties as assigned

II. TEAMWORK

  • Encourage and maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with community partners/employers, all departments within the agency, staff, program participants and parents
  • Be visible, active, and accessible to our community business partners
  • Communicate all health, safety, client and/or program concerns, sensitive situations and incidents to supervisor
  • Maintain good communication with business partners and/or client’s families/advocates, when needed, to provide additional support and conflict resolution
  • Attend and participate in all required and/or requested departmental or agency meetings

III. DOCUMENTATION

  • Complete required documentation in conformance with rules, regulations, policies, procedures and billing practices
  • Perform documentation reviews to ensure records are maintained in conformance with rules, regulations, policies and procedures and billing practices

IV. COMPLIANCE & ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Identify and report any untoward incidents
  • Identify, report all safety hazards including physical site problems and/or problem work practices and assist with investigating all work-related accidents
  • Participate in any investigations as required
  • Comply with all State and Federal regulations along with agency policies and practices

V. TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

  • Obtain and maintain training certifications that include: First Aid, CPR, SCIP, etc.
  • Attend all required training, staff development programs and staff/agency meetings as required by the agency and/or State and Federal regulations

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrate proven success in Business and/or employer job development, as well as strong sales background
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal, written, oral, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of different people, styles, and disabilities
  • Excellent information management/organizational skills
  • Possess and have proven knowledge of computer programs needed for the position, especially Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint programs
  • Ability to work scheduled hours that may include mandatory overtime, weekend and/or holiday timeframes
  • Maintain an acceptable work attendance as defined in the agency’s Employee Manual
  • Must physically be able to perform required certifications and lift up to 30 lbs
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, or Human services -AND- Two years of Human Services experience

-OR-

A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate by the agency.

Experience in sales and the ability to manage small projects and facilitate meetings is highly desirable
