Primary Responsibilities:
The Head of Business Development and Growth will lead the strategic growth of Optum Financial banking, payments, financing, and beyond by developing, driving, and accelerating:
- Strategic Planning and Development:
- Leverage an outside-in and wholistic industry perspective
- Develop competitive intelligence capabilities
- Build an awareness of market needs and gaps and perspective on current and future demands of a broad array of customers
- Go-to-Market and Sales Growth:
- External go-to-market and sales efforts:
- Organize the appropriate talent and resources within Optum Financial to enable and support the Optum Growth Office’s external sales efforts
- Serve as primary counterpart to the new Optum Growth leader who is specifically accountable for Optum Financial external sales and retention targets
- Internal UHG sales efforts:
- Embed the health financial services growth pillar deep into each UHG company’s business plan and execution, raise visibility of Optum Financial’ s value proposition, and hold accountability for internal sales and retention targets
- Enhance IOI across UHG companies and into Optum Financial by optimizing existing assets and services and conceptualizing new assets and services – leading to Optum Financial innovation, development, and implementation
- Strategic Growth Opportunities:
- Internal/organic products and partnerships to scale current capabilities and develop creative solutions
- Targeted and aggressive M&A to accelerate the full potential of Optum Financial and de-risk elements of early-stage execution
- Active and ongoing sourcing of prospective targets
- Development of relationships with bankers, private equity firms, and other financial and strategic players
- Condition the environment among customers, stakeholders, policy makers, and regulators to improve receptivity as Optum Financial increases its profile

Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of expertise and established relationships in fin tech and recognized as an industry advocate with established relationships in the space
- Experience addressing market opportunities with innovative technology solutions and established domain expertise related to go-to-market strategy, pricing models and service/delivery to drive sustainable value
- Proven ability to be results-oriented, proven track record managing development and execution of go-to-market strategy that drives significant revenue growth year-over-year
- Demonstrated success setting commercial direction and priorities within a quantified pipeline as well ability to develop plans and forecasting/reporting capabilities
- Proven ability to be a solid listener who understands unique, complex customer challenges and addresses them with technology-driven solutions using a consultative approach
- Comfortable applying process and quantitative KPIs to ensure alignment and accountability
- C-Suite and executive-level engagement and communication skills; able to articulate and deliver clear and concise messages internally/externally with excellent presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to be a structured problem solver with the ability to make quick but thoughtful decisions and pressure test solutions to ensure the right path forward
- Proven ability to be overall recognized as an individual with professionalism, outstanding leadership, communication and collaboration skills, capable of inspiring others around a vision and plan

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $275,000 to $350,000. The salary/hourly range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $275,000 to $350,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
