Senior Product Engineer
General Duties
- Follow IAC’s Code of Conduct.
- Ensure Design meets IAC and Customer engineering requirements/specifications
- Work with operations to ensure design is manufacturing feasible and meets quoted expectations
- Complete EBOM
- Execute program testing with passing results
- Customer interface
Specific Duties
- CAE/FEA
- Craftsmanship- AAR (Pre and post grain approval), color & harmony- Review parts with customer
- Customer CI (cost saves)- Development
- Customer Support- Develop and negotiate SOW's with customers and vendors
- Customer Support- Meetings (open issues, design reviews, engineering, dimensional, core, studio, AAR, launch readiness, etc.…)
- Design- Attachment Prove-out
- Design- Best practices for documentation, standard geometry, standard design practices, and common fasteners/adhesives/materials
- Design- Critical characteristics for component part designs
- Design- Define product requirements and assumptions
- Design- Design review's pre-production
- Design- Develop and engineer applicable commodity utilizing the Feasibility Hardpoint Management
- Design- Develop and execute within ED&T project budgets consisting of manpower, prototype tools, material, testing, etc.
- Design- Development and engineering of applicable Products (cost, weight, investment, tooling, timing, quality, feasibility, craftsmanship)
- Design- Document all deviations from customer requirements / guidelines
- Design- DTR's to import or export data from IAC
- Design- Ergonomic Compatibility
- Design- Incorporate IAC standard product & process designs including lessons learned from past programs
- Design- Master Sections
- Design- Reduce part variation
- DFM/DFA
- DFMEA
- Dimensional Management- GD&T, Special Characteristics and Measurement Points, and Fit & Finish
- DVP&R (plan and execution)
- EBOM (ECN)- Initial Release of new program awarded EBOM
- Engineering open issues and evidence documents
- Homologation Acceptance
- Launch support, including onsite at IAC and customer manufacturing locations
- Patent Clearance
- Serviceability- Service Requirements and Review
- Warranty- Approval of any OEM warranty acceptance form
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or Design with at least 3-5 years of plastic part (or headliner) design and engineering experience or
- Associate degree in a related field with at least 5-8 years of plastic injection molding / plastic part design experience or
- 8 + years of plastic design / plastic injection molding experience and related assembly or 8+ years of headliner manufacturing experience
- Instrument Panel, Console, Door, Hard Trim and/or Overhead Systems design & engineering experience
- Experience in a “Full Service Supplier” design and engineering programs
- Strong leadership, oral and written communication/presentation, organizational skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to work and interface with the customer for day to day activities without direct management supervision
- Ability to direct/guide design resources and tool shops to deliver a part that meets requirements
- Manufacturing, tooling, and operational knowledge
- CAD software experience (Catia or UGNX) is a plus but is not a requirement
