TRANSFER DRIVER

Department: Transfer

Location: Chicago, IL

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports To

Transfer Dump Operations Supervisor

Position Summary

Transfer drivers are responsible for transporting various materials related to the waste, recycling and demolition industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check assigned truck & trailer for road worthiness on a daily basis, performing pre and post trips, reporting any defects, and maintaining proper fluid levels
  • Transport materials to various destinations, placing special focus on safety, traffic rules and regulations
  • Accurately filling out paperwork, including: daily trip reports, vehicle condition reports and customer work order tickets

Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical Skills

  • Ability to read and understand a map/GPS
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
  • Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing
  • Ability to drive truck with a manual transmission
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to haul 48’ to 53’ trailers
  • Previous CDL truck driving experience preferred
  • Waste industry experience, a plus

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

  • Works under moderate supervision
  • Requires lifting up to 50-75 pounds, pushing, pulling and bending
  • A valid CDL Class A driver’s license is required
  • Must be 21 years of age, or older
