Primary Responsibilities:
- Mentor and grow engineers within the organization
- Focus on raising the bar with flawless execution
- Lead engineering design and development for teams across functional-domains
- Collaborate with Product Management to build long term product roadmaps, and have a solid voice in product user interaction, experience design, and implementation
- Attract high-performing engineering talent into the organization
- Lead product, process, tooling, and hiring initiatives that go across organizational boundaries
- Collaborate with key enterprise teams
- Assess and recommend vendor products/tools to leadership
- Cultivate an environment of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
- Partner with peers to identify opportunities for code sharing, common services, joint development, etc.

Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of combined software engineering experience
- 3+ years of technical mentorship experience
- Experience with cloud environments and ecosystems such as Kubernetes, Azure
- Proponent of engineering best practices and operational telemetry with demonstrable track record of addressing engineering efficiency bottlenecks
- Deep computer science fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, and practical applications of these to build software systems
- Expert in building micro-services, data pipelines, cloud-native solutions using Java/JVM based tooling
- Solid system/solution design skills
- Solid project planning and execution skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on committed schedules
- Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in technology, engineering, or science
- Experience with code contribution to the open-source community
- Success in growing and managing geographically distributed teams using successful recruiting, employee development, and retention
- Exceptional communication skills and experience presenting to a senior/executive leadership

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The Salary range for Colorado, Connecticut and Nevada residents is $113,500 to 218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
