The Lead Operational Risk Officer will be responsible for applying independent risk management practices to ensure the Technology group is performing, functioning in a safe and sound manner and is in compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines from multiple jurisdictions (e.g. OCC, FRB, CFPB and other international regulators).
This role will monitor and oversee functional units within the Technology Organization. This role's responsibilities include monitoring and oversight of frontline technology teams accountable for managing technology, information security and other operational risks within established risk appetites and tolerances

In this role, you will:
- Develop, implement, and monitor risk-based programs to identify, assess, and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events
- Maintain a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems, and internal controls
- Analyze extremely complex business and system changes to determine impact, identify operational risk issues and participate in the development of risk ratings
- Provide operational risk expertise and consulting to complex business units for initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines
- Design and develop the most complex testing strategies, methodologies and analyses
- Consult with the business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manage change
- Identify training opportunities
- Design and coordinate the development of training materials and coordinate or deliver training
- Report findings and develop business cases to influence executive management, management committee member or head of business on the need for controls to mitigate risk
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Lead project or virtual teams and mentor less experienced staff
- 5+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years of experience with technology and/or information security domains (e.g. infrastructure engineering, architecture, IT operations, incident response, identity and access management, vulnerability management, application security)
- Demonstrated leadership experience (not necessarily direct-report management) in risk management through front-line operational risk management, or internal audit in financial services covering technology and/or information security risk
- Experience monitoring industry, technology and regulatory trends to determine business impacts
- Experience developing and delivering comprehensive report/presentations to senior management, stakeholders, and risk and management committees
- Experience defining and/or developing business initiatives that require collaboration between multiple stakeholders and/or lines of business
- Experience executing Technology and Information Security oriented operational assessments against industry standards/guidance such as ISO 27001, NIST SP 800-53, PCI DSS, and/or FFIEC
- Certifications in Risk, Technology, and/or Information Security disciplines (e.g. CRISC, CISA, CISM, CISSP, GIAC)
- Experience evaluating relevant operational risks for related processes and technology
- Second-line of defense oversight, or front-line support and/or management of technology / information security risk
