General Description / Primary Purpose
The Stores Supervisor will oversee the Housing and Residence Life Facilities warehouse activities including ordering, receiving, paperwork processing, material inspection, inventory management, distribution of stored materials, and the annual inventory audit of the warehouse and all store rooms. They will determine the need for additional stock items and contact vendors to obtain supplies. This position will also maintain special order files and handle exchanges, credits, and returns. They will recommend and implement operating policies and procedures. They will also manage the Housing furniture warehouse and inventory, the motor pool and its maintenance, and all golf cart maintenance. The Supervisor will ensure warehouse space utilization and safety standards. The Supervisor will be responsible for the safe and organized upkeep of the warehouse exterior storage areas. They will negotiate with vendors to evaluate new products, substitutes, and to compare vendor pricing.
During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job related duties.
This position will supervise the Stores Receiving Clerk and student staff members.
Essential Duties
Job Function
Oversee Housing and Residence Life Facilities warehouse logistical operations including ordering goods, receiving goods, paperwork processing, material inspection, inventory management including the annual inventory audit, and pick up and distribution of materials. Pick up of materials may be necessary from local vendors or campus areas. Distribution of materials may include, but is not limited to: appliances, durable goods, paint, furniture, tools, maintenance supplies, grounds supplies, and custodial supplies.
Percentage Of Time 30 Job Function
Warehouse management and oversight including the main warehouse, furniture warehouse, and warehouse exterior. Regular walkthroughs of the warehouse areas for space utilization and safety standards. Ensure safety guidelines for the Warehouse, as set forth by the Department and the University, are met and adhered to such as clear egress around all exits, space marking to ensure proper clearance for outlets and extinguishers, and proper storage and handling of chemicals and/or flammable materials.
Percentage Of Time 25 Job Function
Negotiate with vendors to evaluate new products, substitutes, and to compare vendor pricing. Also maintain special order files and handle exchanges, credits, and returns. Recommend and implement policies and procedures with regards to product purchasing. Recommend and implement Housing policies and procedures with regards to product safety and chemical purchasing, handling, and storage in conjunction with University guidelines.
Percentage Of Time 25 Job Function
Oversee and maintain the motor pool and golf cart fleet and their records and maintenance. Take all vehicles to respective places of service during regularly scheduled service intervals. Oversee and maintain all related warehouse equipment including, but not limited to: Electric Pallet Jack, Manual Pallet Jack, and Dock Leveler.

High school diploma and four years of experience directly related to the job functions. Directly related college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Ability to requisition, distribute, and monitor the use of supplies, equipment and materials. Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other. Physically, must be able to ascend stairways to gain access to 2nd and 3rd story apartments (no elevator available), ascend narrow spiral stairwells to gain access to loft bedroom unit. Ability to push, lift, or move loads of at least 35 pounds (bags of trash, cleaning carts, buffer, scrubbers, cleaning supplies, inventory pallets, manual pallet jacks, etc); ability to carry, erect, climb and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds.
