Job Summary

Responsible for support and execution of the Electric Division’s safety and safety related training programs.



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safety: Primary first contact on all safety related matters for the UGI Electric Division. Work with Electric Division leadership, the UGI Manager of Safety and applicable departments for continuous improvement of safety within the Electric Division. Be an advocate for safety and integration into daily work of employees. Engage with employees on safety. Develop/manage/review companywide safety policies. Engage with and manage external resources (consultants and vendors), when applicable. Monitor the effectiveness of Electric Division specific safety programs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Perform an Electric storm restoration roll specific to safety.
  • Training: Identify/assess/develop/manage/coordinate/conduct safety training for the UGI Electric Division. Utilize the UGI Learning Management System (LMS) and 3rd party CBT electric safety training vendor. Engage with and manage vendors for trainings requiring external resources. Monitor and maintain training documentation.
  • Field Observations: Perform safety field inspections and observations independently and in conjunction with those conducted by the field supervisors to identify safety concerns and trends. Build a working relationship with Electric Division employees to bring back safety related feedback to enhance the UGI safety program.
  • Root Cause Safety Investigations: Conduct safety investigations and root cause analysis as necessary for the UGI Electric Division. Develop safety communications, lessons learned, and action plans based on investigations.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with electric utility operations and construction as it pertains to electric safety.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA 1910.269 Electric Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution and applicable electric utility work practices and safety policies.
  • Experience with identifying & developing electric safety policies and safety communications.
  • Business acumen.
  • Self-starter. Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Able to prepare and present on various topics, tuning the message based on audience (Executives, employees, contractors, etc.).
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS) and computer-based training.
  • Experience creating, teaching, and coordinating training programs for adult learners. Has a presence when teaching safety training that promotes engagement.
  • Ability to influence behaviors in supervision, field personnel, and other employees that do not directly report to this position.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to juggle multiple tasks to effectively achieve results.
  • Expert ability to build strong relationships and develop trust across the organization, anticipating reactions and planning strategically to overcome objections.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety or Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 10 year’s electric utility experience or safety professional experience in the electric utility industry preferred.
  • CUSP, CSP, ASP, STS, or STSC preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
