ESG DATA ANALYST SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The ESG Analyst is responsible for delivering holistic reporting design for the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance initiative. This role will lead the effort for mining data and creating reports with actionable items to track performance and support decision making that impact the business. The goal is to build a solid reporting foundation that will enable ESG to be a key differentiator for the company by continually evaluating business practices, methods, and strategies to improve Environmental, Social, and Governance results.

The ESG Analyst will develop a complete understanding of the available data and reporting, conceptualize improvements, and translate ideas to both executive leadership and project teams. The analyst will work closely with the ESG project team in gathering requirements, prepping data for reporting and presentations, as well as performing ad hoc data exploration and reporting needs. The ideal candidate is an independent thinker and has a strong background with SQL and Excel.

ESG DATA ANALYST ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Understand stakeholders’ objectives, the metrics that are the most important to the initiative, and how to measure performance
  • Develop ad hoc reporting utilizing various tools such as SQL, Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point), Power BI, and similar tools
  • Act as the subject matter expert of ESG data, database structures and business rules
  • Create dashboards for tracking and reporting of initiative progress and results effectively to all levels of management
  • Meet with internal customers to gather required reporting and dashboard requirements
  • Work with both technical and non-technical teams to determine best data source and source new data as needed
  • Create technical documentation for ad hoc reporting and data requests on an as-needed basis
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes, tracking issues, and document changes
  • Lead the continual development, prioritization, tracking, and mining of ESG data
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design and develop ESG reporting process improvements with a specific focus on data insights, analytics, and strategy
  • Apply analytics to ESG data understanding and reporting, including the development and improvement of queries and extraction methods
  • Develop framework and processes for annual reporting requirements
