Converged Infrastructure Engineer with Security Clearance
NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Converged Infrastructure Engineer with strong experience in both virtualization and storage technologies. Experience should include centralizing VMWare 5.x/6.x/7.x server platforms supporting shared services (AD, DNS, NFS, etc.) and multi-tiered applications. The candidate will be expected to have a general understanding of large-scale data center design concepts and subsystems (i.e. storage, network, security, orchestration/automation, backup, disaster recovery) as they relate to integrating and operating VMWare Servers deployed across geographically dispersed private data centers and commercial public cloud platforms (such as AWS). The candidate would be well versed in VMWare Server virtualization, vRealize Orchestrator, vRealize Automation, NSX, PowerCLI, vROPS, scripting (Powershell, Perl, Python, etc.), and security best practices. They will also have strong experience with a variety of storage systems including, but not limited to, EMC, NetApp, and Dell Equallogic and a Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure including, Brocade, Cisco MDS/NX-OS and Cisco UCS. The candidate should have heavy disaster recovery and Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) experience. Certifications such as VCP6-CMA, VCP7-CMA, VCP5-DCV, VCP6-DCV and VCP6-NV are desired but not required. Roles and Responsibilities: Perform routine administrative and maintenance functions (install, configure, patch, update, etc.) server platforms
Perform security hardening and work with IA/C&A teams to conduct security scans/audits
Troubleshoot server platforms in preproduction and production environments
Monitor performance of remote and local systems to identify problems, and if needed, perform analysis to identify root cause of any performance issues and take appropriate corrective action to resolve issues.
Develop scripts to automate manual tasks
Work with application owners and infrastructure team members (network, storage, IA, etc.) to optimize system performance
Evaluate, design, and test new cloud-based systems and solutions sets
Participate in the development and maintenance of system lifecycle documentation
Responsible for design and development of highly complex, integrated solutions through tools, processes and procedures to facilitate the cost effective delivery of services
Responsible for ensuring that the data is accessible and recoverable, ensuring that there is available capacity for allocation of new data and archiving or removing obsolete data from the system, monitoring SAN capacity and performance using appropriate reporting & monitoring tools
Manage, maintain and enhance the SAN disk and Fibre Channel switched network infrastructure. Perform daily routine maintenance of storage subsystems

2+ years of experience with any of the following platforms, vCenter, vROPS, vRealize Automation, vRealize Orchestrator is required.
Experience using Powershell, PowerCLI, Perl, Python, and other shell scripting languages is strongly desired.
Experience with VMWare Server performance tuning is desired. Secret clearance or higher preferred
8570 compliance (Active Security and OS certifications)
5+ years of relevant storage experience (or a degree of equal years in information technologies or a related field) with the following:
Engineering and implementing disk storage solutions
Configuring SAN switches, including zones and VSANs
Performance Tuning of SAN implementations
Engineering and implementing networked file systems such as NFS or CIFS
Disaster Recovery solutions including DataDomain, Connectrix, and RecoverPoint devices
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-functional team environment (team player) is a must.
Ability to work onsite in a data center and perform physical tasks as needed including: rack and stack, cabling, and maintenance. About the Company:
